Working as the structural consultant to the College of William & Mary, The Structures Group, Inc. (TSG) provided the independent inspections for the Integrated Wellness Center (IWC) constructed on the campus of the College of William & Mary. The IWC is a two-story, 23,000 square foot structure that houses the Student Health Center, Counseling Center, Wellness Programs, and Campus Recreation. The scope of our inspections included the structural components of building, such as cast-in-place concrete strip and spread footings, cast-in-place concrete basement walls, structural steel column anchor bolts, and concrete slabs on grade.
In a continuing role of the structural consultant for the College, TSG also provided the review of the general contractor’s Structural Steel Delegated Design Calculation Submittal Package for all of the structural steel connections throughout the IWC. The purpose of our review was to determine if the design of the steel framing connections met the specifications provided within the A/E structural construction drawings. Further, TSG provided the on-site review of the installed hangers for the various MEP components throughout the entire building to determine compliance with the general contractor’s Delegated Design Submittal Package for these hangers. Remedial repair recommendations and details to correct the deficiencies observed in the installation of these hangers were also provided.
