Williamsburg Transportation CenterCity of Williamsburg, Virginia
The Structures Group, Inc. provided forensic analysis and remedial repair analysis as well as the structural construction documents for the renovation of the Williamsburg Transportation Center. Working with the architectural firm, Guernsey Tingle Architects, the design and construction of this project were completed on time and within the City of Williamsburg’s budget. The project was awarded an Excellence in Development Design Award by the Hampton Roads Association of Commercial Real Estate.
The train station is located in Williamsburg’s Merchants Square and Resort Historic District, adjacent to Colonial Williamsburg. Originally built in 1936 as a part of John D. Rockefeller’s restoration of Colonial Williamsburg, the station provided Williamsburg with its first rail transportation link for materials, postage, and passengers.
