Discovery I and II Office Buildings

James City County, Virginia

Working as the structural consultant to the project architect, The Structures Group, Inc. provided structural engineering design and construction documents for two (2) commercial office buildings within the pre-planned New Town section of James City County, Virginia.  Discovery I is a three (3) story, 5.9 million dollar, 35,000 square foot office building.  Discovery II is a two (2) story, 3.4 million dollar, 20,000 square foot office building. 

The Structures Group, Inc. culminated the design phase of the project with the creation of structural construction drawings and specifications. Furthermore, to help expedite the county plan review and issuance of a building permit, The Structures Group, Inc. performed an expedited independent plan review for the Owner, which was submitted along with the permit documents immediately following completion of the construction documents - achieving a building permit in less than seven (7) days. The Structures Group, Inc. provided construction administration of the structural components during construction of these two (2) commercial structures, and served as the Agent 1 Special Inspector, as part of the building code required Special Inspections.
